and Chemical Substance Initiatives

Caring for nature and nurturing a rich heart

At Reiko, we promote environmental activities and social contribution activities with "nurturing a rich heart that is considerate of nature" as one of our management principles.
Develop eco-friendly products, obtain eco-related certification, actively clean up our own factories, and provide substances in the event of a disaster.
We are also focusing on social contribution activities such as community cleaning.

OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 Class

We have developed the NM type (polyamide material, used in Lamé Session® Series, etc.) which is the first lamé in the world to pass the strictest standard, STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®: Product Class Ⅰ. The B2 Series (polyester material, used in Kaitos Neo, etc.) and M-660 also have passed.
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX is proof that fiber products meet the highest safety standards in the world, a certificate awarded only to products that have passed rigorous analysis and testing for more than 350 harmful chemical substances.
Product Class Ⅰ: Certified safe for use in products that may be touched by infants under 36 months or small children. [Authentication number N-KEN 03012]

Received the Shiga Prefecture Low Carbon Society Creation Award (Business Action Plan System Category)

In the business action plan system, among those who submitted the business action plan and report, we made particularly excellent efforts to set an example for other businesses regarding the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions of our company in business activities. It is a commendation for businesses that are doing business.
In February 2018, the Reiko Hino Factory was commended based on the provisions of Article 44 of the Ordinance on Promotion of Creating a Low-Carbon Society in Shiga Prefecture.

Certified as an excellent business establishment for recycling activities in Kyoto City

Reiko was certified as an "excellent establishment for 2R and separation / recycling activities" in recognition of its activities for waste separation. As of October 1, 1945, 70 business establishments have been certified in Kyoto City, and Reiko is one of them. Going forward, we will continue to raise environmental awareness within the company through recycling activities such as waste reduction and sorting, and work to "do not generate" or "do not produce" waste.

Obtained ISO14001 certification

While Reiko is developing products that are kind to nature, we have not forgotten to consider the environment in the manufacturing process. In September 2004, we acquired ISO14001 at our Ritto and Hino plants by taking proactive measures such as energy saving at our plants, reduction of emissions, and recycling. In September 2008, the head office and Tokyo branch office acquired ISO14001, and all Reiko offices are engaged in environmentally friendly business activities.

Efforts to reduce the environmental impact of specific chemical substances

At Reiko, we have developed initiatives to "do not purchase" or "do not use" materials containing specific chemical substances in the entire production process from parts purchase to shipping inspection.
We have established a Chemical Substance Management Safety Committee consisting of employees involved in the selection of materials, product design, and purchase, and strengthened the management system. Based on the list of chemical substances created by the committee, we investigate the presence or absence of specific chemical substances in the supplier and take measures to prevent their use.
In addition to complying with laws and regulations such as the EU RoHS Directive, we also carry out a wide range of activities such as grasping harmful substances contained in materials to be purchased and assessing environmental impacts.
Furthermore, if there is concern about the environmental risks of chemical substances, we will voluntarily reduce or prohibit their use and make every effort to reduce the environmental impact of our products.
Through the above activities, we strive to ensure that all products on the market from our company do not contain specific chemical substances.

Concluded an agreement with Ritto City, Shiga Prefecture regarding the supply of supplies in the event of a disaster

Under this agreement, in the event of a disaster in Ritto City, we will provide partition films and heat-retaining vapor-filmed films to evacuation centers. Surrounding with partitions will help prevent infection and ensure privacy. In addition, the thin-film vapor deposition film can also be used to keep the body temperature warm in winter.
At Reiko, we will continue to grow with the spirit of living and walking together through such activities in order to realize one of our management philosophies, "Nurturing a rich heart that is considerate of nature."
